3 Common Mistakes When Planning Your Event

Deciding to plan your celebration can be an exciting as well as overwhelming feeling. The list of to-dos can be endless, trying to balance planning with your personal and professional life. We wanted to share with you the common mistakes one can make when deciding to plan their event and how to avoid this.

1) Overspending⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Budgeting is the number one most challenging aspect of event planning. If this is something you’re concerned about, you certainly aren’t alone. Determine your overall budget and make a list of all the things needed for your event. Designate an estimate or maximum amount your willing to spend for each item. Tally the items to bring you back to your overall amount and then compare your items to the invoices received.

2) Having more guests than you planned for⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Set your guest count and stick to it!

Before you think of changing this figure, think about how much it will cost you to invite the number you have determined. Don’t forget the importance of an RSVP system, this will help you to stick to your guest count.

3) Not confirming your vendors⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This event planning mistake is more common than you might think. In addition to paying your deposit and confirming your venue setup times, you need to make one more confirmation with your vendors.

You never know what might come up at the last minute so you need to be prepared when it does.⠀⠀

Not booking an Event Coordinator⠀⠀

This is a mistake you should avoid.  Deciding to not hire an event
coordinator you may run the risk of your event day not running as smoothly as
you have planned and also not being prepared for the unexpected events that may
occur. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whilst you may consider asking a friend or family member to assist, they may
not be as knowledgeable or prepared. They also deserve to enjoy this special
day with you and be part of all your activities.
